Here’s Why")

No matter how you look at it, there will always be a significant difference between a data backup and a successful recovery. Businesses are too often under the impression that they are one and the same, but this is a faulty belief that puts them at risk. If you back up your files to the cloud, your business needs a way to recover those files, and fast. Otherwise, downtime ensues, and you don’t want that.

You can’t have a data backup solution without a reliable recovery mechanism, so why not set up a system that does both? Here’s why you need to invest in an image-based Backup and Disaster Recovery (BDR) solution today.

## File-Level Backup Saves the Components, But That’s It

You might already have a solution in place that handles file-level backup, but chances are it’s incapable of restoring an entire system after colossal failure.

If your server dies, file-level backup is going to leave you with countless problems to solve. A technician will have to rebuild and reinstall your operating systems, including software, drivers, and custom settings. Then there’s the configuration process and connecting all the apps to the right systems so your staff can get to work.

If you don’t have a system that can instantaneously restore your infrastructure, you have a liability, not a plan.

## Image-Based BDR Uses Snapshots for More Complete Backups

A BDR solution can take a full-image snapshot of your entire system. This includes your operating system, software applications, and settings.

If your server fails, a BDR solution can function as a temporary server, deploying your systems with minimal downtime. Your team can work using this backup of your data while you work on replacing or fixing the hardware. To make things even better, this offers point-in-time recovery, so you minimize data loss as well.

Additionally, since this backup is based on an image, you don’t have to install any software. The backup should just work, exactly the way it did before, and it should allow for a fast recovery process.

## Shift Your Focus from Backup Success to Recovery Time

It’s not enough to define backup success as “having a backup.”

The metric you need to concern yourself with is actually how fast your business can pull off a successful recovery, also known as RTO, or Recovery Time Objective. How quickly can you go from “everything is broken” to “everyone can do their jobs?” The great thing about cloud-based backup RTO, a full-fledged recovery can take anywhere between 24-to-72 hours, but BDR significantly reduces this to a measly 15-to-30 minutes.

Naturally, this makes a big difference in your business successfully recovering from a disaster. Instead of looking at the incident as a potentially business-ending scenario, you can look at it as a minor inconvenience (even if it’s still a learning experience).

“Saving files” is not a solution to the data backup and recovery problem. You shouldn’t have to guess that your data will be safe in the event you need it most. Know with certainty that your business is good to go, regardless of the situation, by working with COMPANYNAME. Learn more today by calling us at PHONENUMBER.
