Your network powers your business, so it makes sense that you would want to treat your networking hardware with the respect it deserves. Today, we want to explore some of the common networking solutions out there and how easy it can be to neglect them after the initial setup. ## Firewalls
Your firewall is the frontline defense against cybersecurity threats; it’s designed to catch it and reject it before it even hits your network.
This is why it’s important for your firewall to remain updated with the latest threat definitions. A firewall is not a simple “set it and forget it” solution, and it requires frequent updates so it can catch the latest big bad threats. You’ll also want to implement threat intelligence features, like intrusion prevention systems and deep packet inspection, to reinforce these security measures and stay as secure as possible.
Again, you want your security solutions updated and configured correctly, and this should be a priority.
## Network Switches
The network switch is the hub that connects all your wired devices together, and it’s also incredibly important for your in-house network to get right.
Computers, printers, and servers all connect to your network switch, which is what allows them to transfer data to one another. Your business will grow over time, and as it does, your older network switch might not be able to keep up the same way it once did. You’ll need to upgrade your hardware if you want to ensure it can handle the increasing demands of your network.
